Andrew Sullivan is a British professional basketball player. He plays for Leicester Riders and captains the Great Britain national team.
I found a sport that I loved and wanted to get to the top of my game.
Becoming captain of the Great Britain men’s basketball team.
I usually train twice a day – once in the morning and then again in the evening.
My family - my wife and two little girls.
They are all extremely proud of me.
I went to the United States of America on my own when I was 16 years old to go to high school and then university. After graduating I then became a professional basketball player.
I would tell them that the pathway that I took isn’t the only way to get to where I am today. I’d also explain to them that my choice of path wasn’t the easiest but I am proud of what I have achieved and the life that I have developed for myself.
I really use sports science theory and techniques a lot when I am training with the Great Britain team – it really is essential.
Science has definitely enabled me to improve my strength and conditioning. I started working with a strength and conditioning coach a couple of years ago and everything that we do in basketball is related.
I enjoy listening to music and playing with my children.
Shooting an air ball from the front line in an international game!
